Standard Banner Ad Sizes

Below are some of the most common standard banner sizes in use on the Internet. To effectively utilize Banner Ad Advertising, the design of the banner ads you distribute to other sites, as well as the banner ads you allow on your website, should be based on the sizes below.

Although any size banner can be created, custom banner sizes are not recommended for one primary reason... Paying a designer to create a custom size banner ad and only being able to display that banner ad on your website alone just wastes your advertising dollars. That is why we have standard sizes. Standard sizes allow you to distribute and display your banner ad on any website that uses standard sizes as well as allowing you to accept advertising on your site from anyone that uses these sizes. (and the overwhelming percentage of websites use these standards).

Two other common sizes for banners also used are: 350x300 and 720x300. These are generally not used on web pages, but as pop-up or pop-under ads displayed in separate browser windows. The standard sizes below for banner ads have been formulated by the Internet Advertising Bureau.
